Winter 2025 Newsletter
Welcome to our Winter 2025 Newsletter, the first in what we hope will be a regular series.
Everyone here at Rangers Lodge would like to wish you all a wonderful, relaxed Festive Season with your friends and family. We’ll be sharing highlights of our year, but first of all, we want to say a great big THANK YOU to all of our supporters:
- To everyone who has rescued an animal, no matter how badly injured, and brought it to us for treatment, and then hopefully released them once they are fit and healthy again
- To everyone who has made a donation towards our work and enabled us to to maximise the funds we have for animal care through Gift Aid
- To all of our amazing volunteers, without whom we simply would not be able to function!
This year we were able to use our fox cub pens for the first time. They were paid for by grant funding and we are grateful to our maintenance team who built them for us. We’ve also been able to use grant funding for various other building projects including building isolation pens which are now ready to use, and in part for extending our flight cages. In addition, we’ve improved our deer pens with new fencing.
As far as our animal patients are concerned, it’s been a very busy year – nothing new there! – with more than 200 hedgehogs, almost 50 foxes, deer and other mammals, and over 100 birds so far. Unfortunately, due to ill health we have had to close the hospital to new admissions for the time being. But, with the help of our volunteers, we hope to be able to reopen for admissions soon.
The variety of wild animals and birds that are brought to us is truly amazing, and this year has been no exception. As well as the many hedgehogs and corvids we admitted, we have cared for a hobby, a nightjar, a pair of dormice, and a weasel (named Ginny Weasley, naturally!)
Our 2026 Calendars are here!
Some of the animals who have been in our care are featured on our fabulous 2026 calendars, which come in three sizes – A4, A3 and slimline – and cost £9.00 with every penny going towards our continuing work. Jump to our Facebook page for details of how to order.
And if you are in need of some Christmas cards, look no further! We have packs of 16 at £6.50 per pack, each containing 4 each of 4 different very cute animal designs. More details and ordering information on our Facebook page!
Done your Christmas shopping yet? If you’re anything like us, it’s on a very long list of things to do! So here’s a timely reminder that our online store is open, so head over there to find a huge selection of Rangers Lodge Wildlife Hospital merchandise that we are sure your friends and family would love to find under the tree on Christmas morning!

Once again, a great big THANK YOU for everything you have all done this year, and we wish you a very relaxing and peaceful Christmas and all the very best for 2026.
