Dandelion’s Story
Dandelion came into us on 4th August 2022, after being caught in barbed wire.
Dandelion came into us on 4th August 2022. She was found by a member of the public.
She was caught in barbed wire, the member of the public managed to free her and kept her safe for 24 hours until she could get her to our wildlife hospital.
Her wounds were all over her body, legs, tummy and back.
It took some time for us to nurse her back to health with bottles of milk (hand rearing), medication and daily dressing changes.
With each stage of her recovery she was a little fighter and with every feed getting stronger.
Once she was old enough and her wounds were all healed she went into our deer enclosure withing our woodland area where other wild deer pass through daily. She became acclimatised to the surroundings and on the 20th April this year (2023) we opened her enclosure door and she integrated with the wild deer herd. She visits us with the herd daily and dear dandelion also features in this year’s calendar.
Her rehabilitation has been a complete success, she is a finally wild deer, back with her own kind, which is always our aim.
These are wild animals and we take every precaution not to tame any animals within our care.
