About Us

Every year, the wildlife in Britain has unfortunate encounters with man.
Over 5 million animals and birds are injured annually.

At Rangers Lodge Wildlife Hospital we try to redress the balance by treating sick, injured and orphaned animals and nurse them back to health. We believe everything has a right to life. Our aim is to release every animal back into the wild or to find them safe release sites.

We are a small Wildlife Hospital, based in a private home, in the heart of West Sussex. Set in the beautiful countryside of Saint Leonards Forest just east of the historical market town of Horsham.  We are open 24 hours, 365 days of the year.

We are very grateful to our team of vets who will carry out anaesthesia, x-rays and surgery and with the help of the volunteers, who give up their valuable spare time to clean out cages, feed and care for the sick, injured, and orphaned. We are also grateful to various other organisations and individuals that work with us and of course the public who make generous donations.

During the winter we mostly care for young hedgehogs. TSTH (too small to hibernate). These are kept at room temperature to prevent them from going into hibernation as they do not have enough body weight to sustain them through the winter outdoors.

We are only able to survive from the grateful donations of the local community which are always greatly received.
